The weekly series featuring rappers, painters and more, is held Wednesdays at Tapster from 7:30-9pm.
Since beginning Lake Shore Dive in the fall of 2017, we've always strived to put artists front and center. We started a pop-up bar to allow us the freedom to travel to different neighborhoods and collaborate with a unique mix of people, giving a platform to artists at each event.
We are so excited to announce our summer series at Tapster called "Soul and Spirts." Each week, we sit down with a Chicago creative for a "soul"-fulfilling conversation, a performance or live display, and of course "spirits," AKA a hip-hop themed cocktail on draft.
The talk portion is held in a living room-like setting to capture our theme of connecting creatives in an informal atmosphere. Think of it as going to your best friend's house (that just happens to be a cozy neighborhood bar) for a heart-to-heart. Or like Chicken Soup For the Soul, but with alcohol. Complete with questions about childhood, current obsessions, and even some classic slumber party games, the purpose is to build human connection, because that's what makes the arts community flourish.
After the talk portion ends, the featured artist will either perform, display their art, or showcase a project they're working on. Our lineup includes a mix of photographers, fashion designers, rappers, poets and more, with exciting new things happening each week.
The series takes place Wednesdays from 7:30-9pm, starting July 5. (Please note the starting date is on a Thursday due to Independence Day). Below is the confirmed lineup, and we are continuing to add more dates in August and September.
