Spotlight On: AIR, R&B Singer

The unapologetic artist speaks her mind freely, hoping to connect and empower women.

Meet Asia I Robinson, otherwise known as, A.I.R. The young R&B singer from Aurora, IL expresses the constant struggles women face on a daily basis. Her music is honest and confrontational with a purpose—she strives to spark conversation and empower women to speak up.

Inspired by pop culture icons like Nicki Minaj and Drake, Asia views music as symbiotic communication with the outside world. What effects women in the world today when it comes to politics, sex, and gender discrimination is exactly what you'll hear in her music, woven through downtempo beats and ethereal vocals with neo-soul vibes.

“It's unsettling, that women are taught to compete for no reason. Too many are taught that one woman's success is her loss or one woman's compliment is her insult.”

From hip-hop covers on Instagram, to writing her own music, A.I.R. has a big year ahead of her. She recently released her single “Bitch Boy,” detailing the absurdity of female competition. Over the next few months, she will continue to release other songs with an "aggressive R&B" sound, continuing to express herself freely and inspiring others to do the same.
