Who Run The World? (GIRLS) - Event Recap

March is Women's History Month, so what better time to honor all of the ladies in Chicago kicking ass in creative fields? OK, and what better time to make our long-promised Beyoncé cocktail?

Our "Who Run The World" pop-up event was a lively celebration of women in music, art and spoken word that also benefitted the non-profit Chicago Period Project. If you haven't heard of them, check them out ! They're not only really dope women who run it, but they supply tampons and other feminine hygiene products to homeless and low-income women around the city.

On the walls of the gallery, we featured the works of six different artists (Dail Kirkpatrick, Suzie Shin, Sam Callahan, Amelia Street Studio, Tattiana and Jaime Lee). Each artist had their own unique style, and we showcased a variety of photography, abstract and feminist art.

We started out the night with some sensational spoken word from Kyel Brooks and Resita Cox who completely silenced the room with their stories. Next we had a soulful performance from the amazing Mai, who covered Sabrina Claudio and debuted an original song. Closing out the night, we had two hip-hop performers, Freddie Old Soul and Tweak 'G whose energy-induced sets had everyone in the crowd busting out their best and most embarrassing dance moves. We also had sounds from DJ PatZaddy, who created a stellar women-in-hip-hop playlist just for the night.

Aaaand last but not least, our drink menu featured custom cocktails named after Beyoncé, Noname, SZA, Ravyn Lenae and Jamila Woods. The Beyonce cocktail was our biggest seller of the night, which was a hot-sauce infused tequila drink. You can bet we'll be making this drink again.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support us and all of the amazing women artists in Chicago!
