Nexus J. embodies the word cool. With a knack for poetry, singing, songwriting, rapping, and generally being a badass, she is a modern-day renaissance woman.
To define Nexus J.’s style and confine her to one category or genre would be a disservice. Her work is as fully fleshed out as the skin she walks in. One minute you’re vibing to her soothing vocals and the next you’re swept away by her electrifying and stage-commanding performance.
Her music has a particular presence about it and is naturally poetic. It ebbs and flows in a way that allows you to reflect on her words and connect, be in your feelings, laugh, and bob your head.
All of Nexus J.'s creative endeavors are a manifestation of her lived experiences. Whether she is speaking on her intimate and personal relationship with mental health and self-harm (Exhibit O), or singing over punchy melodies with fellow artist and friend Dxtr Spits about the internal battle POC endure within the corporate environment (Slave Name), she reminds us that to be fully authentic and honest in your art is to fully embrace your “power, presence, and potential”.
